2015 in Review

The First Quarter

2015 was a hell of a year for us and looking back, we did some pretty awesome stuff! We started the year off with a collaboration with Publish Brand in which we created a workwear collection that would represent the spirit of the hard working people of Philadelphia that we called, The Brotherly Love Project! The collection featured a utility khaki jacket that sported a red corduroy collar that shines; a heavy, dark indigo denim shirt with contrasting buttons; and jogger pants with thick elastic cuffs in a deep olive color. On the day of the release, the guys from Publish Brand flew in from California to celebrate with us and give a talk about their history and growth!

The following month we collaborated yet again with Publish Brand, but this time Tretorn joined us in partnership! We created two awesome pairs of Nylites: an off-white suede and a white perforated leather with a gum sole. These were released in-store and globally online, our very first time having a product with our name shipped internationally (we only ship domestically for the time being).

The Second Quarter

We launched our new website during this period, which started as a very simple and flat website that was redesigned to what it is now: a user friendly website that's interactive and displays imagery more elegantly. We celebrated by giving you all a special percentage off certain products that our good pal, Bij, help carry out all by hand!

Our annual Tretorn Dip-N-Dye Event was also held this time which had a pretty awesome turn out! Families, friends, and newcomers alike joined in a festivity of colors and creativity. You can find a re-cap of that time here: https://vimeo.com/127414892

The Third Quarter

Jeff Carvalho, editor of Highsnobiety, came down from the Big Apple to give a speech on the history and direction of fashion and design. Jeff is an engaging speaker who interacts with his audience so well that you began to understand his life and how he got there. We've had many talks here though that one is one of our favorites, for sure!

Baldwin Denim runs a program called "Rep Your Hood", in which they celebrated their city of Kansas City. The give the same opportunity to other shops across the country, where one is able to collaborate with Baldwin Denim to create pieces that represent their own city, and we were chosen (again)! We created a very classic black sweatshirt that read "PHILADELPHIA" across the chest of it. There are few better ways of championing the city than that sweatshirt!

The Fourth Quarter

We finished the year with our in-house collection that featured our very first cut-and-sew pieces! We produced a wool and leather varsity jacket in two colors, olive/brown and navy/brown, which were the two pieces to sell out! We also created button-down shirts in an oxford material, flannel material, and in an 11 oz washed denim. All of these were accompanied by thick sweatshirts that were designed in a simple, collegiate style.

A month after the release of our in-house collection comes a collaboration ball-cap with Ebbets Field that features our Monogram logo in white on a navy wool. We released these caps spontaneously, without the help of a campaign or strategic planning because we loved the hats and we wanted to share them with you as soon as possible. We believe in our culture, not just the business of it.

We thank you guys for the journey, it's been a great one so far! We have great things planned in 2016, let's continue to grow and accomplish great things!
